How To Get Rid Of Back Pain During Pregnancy The Natural Way

Back pain is a common occurrence with pregnant women.  Out of all the things they have to deal with for those nine months, dealing with back pain is not one of them.  It usually starts during the first trimester and continues to part of the second trimester.  When the pain hits, it feels like someone is shooting them with a big needle.

Even though back pain comes with the territory, that doesn’t mean pregnant women should have to suffer through the entire pregnancy.  Why do women experience back pain during their first and second trimesters?   Well, due to increased progesterone in the body, the ligaments and disks soften.

In addition to the above, back pain can also result from urinary tract infections.  The most common cause would be extra weight gain during pregnancy.  The addition weight shifts to the center, therefore placing pressure on the spinal area.

The first thing some pregnant women look to do is take medication for pain relief.  That’s not a good idea.  Taking certain medications may interfere with the pregnancy.  That’s a risk no expecting mother would want to take.

Pregnant women are better off relieving back pain in a therapeutic setting.  There are safe and natural ways to get rid of the back pain early in the pregnancy.  One way, which is one of the most popular, is to exercise.  Pregnant women can engage in walking, which they are encouraged to do then they’re expecting.  They can also exercise their pelvic area by titling it.

Another way pregnant women can relieve pain is to practice your body posture.  This includes sitting up straight and erect.  During pregnancy, it’s a good idea to have a device for back support.  Once women reach their third trimester, they should change the way they sit.  This should be done often, as this will diminish any back pain.

Pregnant women need to get plenty of rest, including sufficient hours of sleep.  Doing this can help your body get the proper nest.  This is especially helpful, since the pregnant woman is caring for two.

Another way that is safe and natural is yoga.  The yoga exercises can help relieve back pain during pregnancy.  The earlier pregnant women take charge to rid themselves of this, the better they’ll start to feel during the rest of their term.

If they allow the pain to continue during their pregnancy, it may intensify.  Then, they may be forced to see their obstetrician for further treatment.  Exercise during pregnancy can help in more ways than one.

If uncertain about doing the exercises listed in this article or others, pregnant women should consult with their obstetrician to see if it’s ok for them to do them.  If not, there may be alternative exercises in place of those.

If they do decide to exercise, they’ll want to take it slow at first.  Overdoing it can cause injury.  Trying these exercises can not only help relieve back pain during pregnancy, but can also keep the expectant mother in shape.
