Natural Gout Treatment

Natural gout treatments that will give you relief from this painful condition, lower the uric acid levels in your body, and improve your condition to the point where your flare ups are a thing of the past are available for you to easily take advantage of. Why? Natural gout treatment can be inexpensive as the items that you will be using are common items that should be easily available to you. If not in your kitchen already, you can find them in almost any grocery or drug store.

• Castor oil is excellent to use to control the searing pain of gout. This natural remedy is used in a poultice in over to cover all of the affected joint area with its soothing goodness. Use a white cloth that is absorbent – a terry bath cloth will be fine.

• Warm the castor oil and soak the cloth in it. Remove the excess oil by squeezing it from the cloth and place it gently on the affected area. Cover the cloth with plastic wrap to prevent staining, then on top of the plastic, lay a heating pad. The heat will cause the oil to penetrate into the skin. Leave the cloth and heating pad on the area for one hour – no more, no less. Repeat this treatment twice a day.

• Epsom salt is another tried and true pain reliever that many gout sufferers would not want to be without. This natural substance works wonders for swelling and stiffness, too. You can use Epsom salt in one of two ways. If the gout is in your feet, you can place them in a foot bath or other container large enough for your feet that holds enough hot water to completely cover your feet. Place 4 to 5 heaping Tablespoons of Epsom salts into the hot water. Soak your feet in this mixture for at least  half an hour.  If your joint pain is in other parts of your body besides your feet or ankles, you can soak your entire body in Epson salts and hot water by using the bathtub. Use at least two cups of the Epsom salts, more if you fill the tub almost to the top.

These natural gout treatments will help to lower your uric acid levels, and could be continued indefinitely in order to keep gout flares to a minimum.

• Berries added to the diet of a person suffering with gout are most beneficial. Blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries – any kind of berry will do.

• Celery seeds are noted for reducing uric acid. Boil a Tablespoon of celery seeds in 2 cups of distilled water until they are soft. Strain out the seeds – the water is what you want, for the goodness of the seeds has been infused into the water via the cooking process. Divide the water into four servings, and drink four times a day.

• Cod liver oil  is helpful for reducing uric acid levels. A teaspoon per day is the proper dose.

• Apple Cider Vinegar works wonders as a natural gout treatment. Simply measure out a teaspoon into a glass of pure spring water, and drink this mixture twice a day. The vinegar makes you system alkaline instead of acid, which helps to banish high uric acid levels.

• The herbs juniper berry, bilberry, nettle root, and devil’s claw are all known to help reduce the uric acid levels in your body.

By taking advantage of these natural gout treatments, you can heal yourself, and then help to keep gout flare ups down to a minimum.
