How to Liver Cleanse at Home
You are probably aware that the liver is one of the most important organs in the human body, but do you know exactly what your liver does to protect your health? It acts like a filter to remove impurities like waste products, any medicines you take, and toxins from the blood, helps us to be able to digest the food we eat by producing bile and enzymes, and changes this food into the building blocks our bodies need to sustain life by metabolizing the carbohydrates, fats, and proteins it contains. The liver stores the glucose we need for energy, along with vitamins and minerals. It creates bile, a substance which helps to digest fat, metabolizes our hormones, and takes care of the protein in the bloodstream.
The liver is a remarkable organ because it is able to regenerate itself if it is damaged. But, too much damage to the liver over time can diminish this new growth in times of stress. This is why it is necessary to take the proper care of the liver in order to keep it as healthy as possible. The best way to do this is to periodically cleanse your liver with a simple method that is quite easy to do in the comfort and privacy of your home.
There are many reasons why you should do a liver cleanse several times a year if at all possible. In today’s world, toxic chemicals are everywhere – in the food we eat, the water we drink, and in the air we breathe. The liver works so hard trying to filter out these toxins that it can become clogged and sluggish with gallstones, which form when toxins, parasites, bacteria and wastes get trapped in bile which has grown sticky and hard.
Once the liver is clogged, it can’t do its usual good job of filtering out the nasties that invade your body, so they all get stuck in the bloodstream. Once this happens, your health can suffer. It’s not uncommon to experience weight gain, tiredness, bloating and constipation, and many other symptoms. A liver cleanse will rejuvenate and detoxify your body, and restore your energy. It can help your liver to function as it was meant to, which means your health can improve faster than you thought possible.

How can you do a liver cleanse at home?
There are several “recipes” that are used for cleansing the liver. One of the easiest and most popular consists of –
• 1 cup of light, extra virgin olive oil • 4 Tablespoons of Epsom Salts • Three cups of either apple or grape juice • 1 large fresh grapefruit
The weekend is a good time to do a liver cleanse since you will be running back and forth to the bathroom frequently. The best time to start the process is in the afternoon. Choose this time wisely, as you can not eat anything for 4 hours before starting. Eat a breakfast that does not contain any sort of fat.
• When the time has come to begin, mix the Epsom Salts with your choice of either apple or grape juice. Divide this into four servings. • Drink one serving at this time. Wait two hours, and then drink another serving. • Wait two more hours. Take the fresh grapefruit and squeeze the juice into a cup. Try not to get any of the pulp in the juice. Ideally, you want to see around a half cup of juice. Add this to the olive oil and mix it up well. Drink all of this mixture, and then do not do any type of exercising. It is best to just go to bed for the night, which is why you should plan your starting time carefully. • When you wake up the next morning, drink the third serving of the Epsom Salt/Juice mixture. Once two hours have passed, drink the fourth and final serving. • Once you have consumed all of this concoction, you will definitely have diarrhea. This is how your body will flush out the gallstones. If you see green pellet-shaped objects of various sizes floating in the toilet, those are the stones. • Repeat the above every two weeks until no more stones are seen.
You should not attempt a liver cleanse if you are sick, pregnant, or frail in any way unless you have consulted a naturopath first!
