What Is A Liver Detox?

To do a liver detox is to cleanse the liver of harmful chemicals, toxins and other impurities. The liver is often a neglected organ, and many experts believe that from time to time the liver can become overwhelmed with all of the harmful toxins from the environment that enter the body through the mouth and skin.

Your liver is one of the most important organs of your body, and it comes with a price: You must take care of it.  Liver detox diets are just one of the many ways people attempt to take care of their livers.

The liver acts as a sort of filter for our bodies. It takes toxins and chemicals out of the blood stream. But with all of the preservatives, hormones, and antibiotics that farmers feed to animals that we use for meat, it’s easy for the liver to become inundated with all kinds of bad things.  Knowing this, many people go on a liver detox diet.

A liver detox diet consists of plenty of fruits, vegetables, water, and fish.  It is recommended that a person going on a liver detox diet drink approximately two quarts of water each day. The water helps the body to eliminate toxins because urination increases. The fiber in the vegetables and fruits increases the number of bowel movements, which also helps in toxin elimination.  Going on a liver detox means you can longer eat processed foods like breads and sugar, and you should also stop consuming alcohol. However, you shouldn’t be discouraged because a liver detox does not last forever.

Liver detoxes don’t go on for a long time because it isn’t a good idea to restrict protein for too long. Liver detox diets do not focus on the consumption of meat, but rather the intake of fruits and veggies.

It is recommended that you go on a detox diet for about thirteen days at a time, and about once a year. After the thirteen days is over, you might find that your health has improved immensely.

After going on a liver detox, you shouldn’t have any problems with constipation, bloating, stomach pains, or other skin problems. And even will all of these positives effects of going on a detox diet, there are still greater benefits. For instance, most people lose a lot of weight. The pounds just drop off while people consume fruits and drink plenty of water.

What does that mean? It means that while you are cleansing your insides, your body is looking better and better on the outside. You should be getting a flatter stomach, thinner thighs, and your arms should be getting firmer. So a liver detox is much more than meets the eye.

How do you know when it’s time to go on a detox? If you experience symptoms such as foul-smelling stools, tiredness, lack of energy, bad breath, or skin rashes, you may want to strongly consider going on a liver detox.

And going on a liver detox will be good for you. You never know what kinds of wastes and bacteria are accumulating in your colon.
