Natural Ways To Lower Your Blood Sugar

If you are a diabetic, it is important that you take care of yourself.  This includes consistently taking your blood glucose reading on a regular basis.  Doing this will keep you on your toes as to whether your blood glucose level is high, low or stable.  Diabetics are usually prescribed medicine to help control your blood sugar, especially if your level is high.

In addition to that, there are natural ways that you can lower your blood sugar and keep it under control.  You may not like this, but changing you eating lifestyle can make an enormous difference in controlling your blood sugar.

In changing your eating lifestyle, you have to choose foods that are healthier for you and are known to lower your blood sugar level.

Consuming foods like white potatoes, white rice and white bread will add more starch to your system.  The extra starch causes your pancreas to work overtime in order to generate more insulin for your body.  It eventually comes to a point where your pancreas will not be able to work so hard in this cycle.

That’s when diabetes sets in and you end up with additional health issues.  Related problems include heart disease, kidney disease and lack of circulation in your body.  With little or no circulation, sores on your body can take longer to heal.  It’s especially important to take care of the extremities, such as your feet, because those can get affected the most.

One of the first things you must do to naturally lower your blood sugar is to change your diet.  In addition to laying off the starches, you also need to refrain from eating a lot of sweets.  Instead choose healthier fares of food.

Consume more fruits, like apples, and berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, etc.).  These are not only good for you, but contain a lot of fiber so that you can clean yourself out.  Some vegetables you should eat are carrots, cabbage and green, leafy vegetables such as collard or turnip greens or spinach.  You can add asparagus to the bunch also.  There are probably many people who would dread at the thought of eating some of these, but when it comes to your health, you’ll forget about disliking it.

Eating carrots can help your eyes.  With diabetes, your eyes can be affected by glaucoma or blindness.  Avocados are good for diabetes.  They can help you regain you circulation and allow the blood to freely flow through your vessels.

There are other natural ways that you can lower your blood sugar.  Herbs and supplements can aid diabetics to stay healthy.  Your blood glucose levels can be stable when you consume ginseng after a meal.

If you thought cinnamon was just for baking, think again.  Cinnamon herb powder can be used to keep your blood sugar levels stable.  In addition to that, you can also use cayenne pepper.

The good thing about using herbs and supplements is that anyone can use them.  It’s not just relegated to people with diabetes.

You should consult with your physician if you plan to try any of these natural methods.  The ultimate goal here is to find a way to keep your blood sugar level under control.
