How does the Personal Health Program work?
After you've been accepted into a Program, we won't waste any time getting started. We'll begin by discovering your Personal Purpose. During your 30-minute initial consultation, we're going to get very clear and very specific about your personal vision for yourself:
- How do you want to look?
- How do you want to feel?
- What things do you want to do?
- How do you want to live?
- Who do you want to become?
Having a "Big Picture" of where you're going helps you make the little choices every day. That's what changes your life.
Your Personal Purpose won't be vague, like "I want to get in shape." It will be specific and detailed like: "I want to learn how to make better food choices and learn to exercise so I'll have more energy to keep up with my children."
Or: "I'm sick of feeling tired all day long. I want to stay healthy enough to look better and have a good sex life."
Or: "I want to be as strong and active as I was when I was 30."
Or: "I want to change my habits so I can avoid heart disease and diabetes, so I can I see my grandkids grow up."
This will help you laser in on what you want to get out of your Personal Health Program.
After your initial consultation, we'll FedEx your lab test kit to you, and you'll start filling out your Health Profile Questionnaire assessment forms. You may need a day or two to finish, because they really do make you take a good, long look at what's going on in your life.
Sometimes doing that can be tough, but the effort is always worth it.
When you complete your forms, simply send them to us by email or fax. The lab package is simple to use. You'll use the enclosed collection kit — The Functional Adrenal Stress Profile — to gather saliva samples. Everything is explained very clearly. You collect your samples at home and then Fed-Ex the samples to the lab in a pre-paid envelope.
The test results will be sent to me. Using another proprietary system developed over the last 10 years, we'll analyze all of your information, and prepare a comprehensive plan.

Sleep: are You Getting Enough?
A whole lot of very important things happen while you sleep. Your immune system fights off invaders, your body balances hormones, and tissues are repaired. If sleep is a problem for you, that's the first thing we'll work to correct.
If you're like most people, you need 7-9 hours of sleep a night. And, if you're like most people, you don't get it, so you've probably built a decent "sleep debt." Sleep debt leads to weight gain, depression, fatigue, irritability, and poor performance in most activities. Improving your sleep can have a dramatic impact on how you feel, and you'll notice the difference all day long.
How do You Handle Stress?
Your overall stress levels have a powerful influence on how you look, how you feel, and how you live. We'll work together to identify key stressors in your life, and then develop action plans to help you manage them. Using the Functional Adrenal Stress Profile lab test takes the mystery out of stress and how it's affecting you.
You see, your adrenal glands react to stress by turning on your fight-or-flight response. Unfortunately, they can't tell the difference between a serious situation, like getting attacked, or a chronic low-grade stress, like hating your job. In both situations your adrenals pump out stress hormones.
When this system stays on for too long (like for weeks, months, or years), your adrenal glands start to burn out, leading to a variety of symptoms like fatigue, depression, and weight gain. In my experience, adrenal burnout is the hidden cause of many of my patients' chronic problems.

No, You Won't Have to Choke Down Foods You Don't Like...
You probably are well aware that we (the U.S.) are the fattest nation in the history of the planet. The reason behind this is that most of us have no clue what we should eat. In your Personal Health Questionnaire, you'll get an in-depth look at your personal relationship with food.
Food provides a basic set of chemicals that your body uses as fuel and structure. Getting the right foods builds a better you. Unfortunately, fad diets have confused a whole lot of people.
Here's the sentence I most commonly hear during an initial consultation: "I try to eat healthy, but I'm not sure what I should be eating." With your Personal Health Program, we'll put an end to that confusion, and help you create a nutritional program you can stick to and actually enjoy.
We both know that forcing yourself to eat foods you don't like won't work for long. We'll go through an extensive list of "foods for you" and you'll decide which ones you're willing to eat, and which are simply out-of-the-question. From there, it's my job to put together an eating plan that you'll like. You don't have to torture yourself to eat healthy. (If you're preparing food for kids and a spouse, we'll work that into the program, too.)
Taking the Right Supplements and Drinking Enough Water.
An important component of your nutritional program will be your Personal Supplement Program. Everyone has different needs for nutritional supplements, and figuring out which ones are right for you requires a thorough assessment, like the one you'll get in the Personal Health Questionnaire.
If you've ever wondered which supplements you should be taking and which are a total waste of money, your Personal Health Program will put an end to the mystery. You'll know exactly which supplements to take, and why.
Don't forget water! We'll also work together to assess your hydration and how much water you should be drinking. You'll get a solid understanding of how fluids can affect you.

Getting too much exercise is just as bad as getting too little. We'll figure out the right amount and the right intensity for you, and then build a program based on the kinds exercise you actually like. If you hate running, you won't have to. If you can't stand going to the gym, we can build a program that you can use at home. If you love running and love going to the gym, we'll make sure you're not getting too much of a good thing.
Your body is built to move. Once your Personal Purpose and specific goals are set, we can develop a personalized movement plan to help you get where you want to go. Everyone is different, and that's why every Personal Health Program is different.
Every four weeks, we'll get together one-on-one on the phone, and keep you moving forward. We'll monitor and modify your progress, and make sure your Action Plan is moving you towards your goals. If not, we'll figure out why and fix it.

Personal Purpose and Starting Point Assessment, and your Functional Adrenal Stress Profile lab test. After your initial consultation, you'll get to work on your Personal Purpose and Starting Point Assessment. Make sure you sit down someplace quiet and spend a few hours on it. This is the time to be honest, and get to work on making serious changes that will last. Most people prefer to fill this out by hand instead of on the computer, but that's your choice. You'll also receive your lab test kit directly from us. You'll complete it at home and use the pre-paid FedEx envelope to send your test to the lab. You can drop it off at any Kinko's or otheredEx drop point. The Functional Adrenal Stress Profile is included in both the Platinum and Gold programs.
Written Stronger-Leaner-Better Personal Program Creation. After you complete your Assessment, either fax it or email it to me. Within 72 hours of receiving your Assessment and Lab Test results, I'll complete your Action Plans for the first month of your Personal Health Program. You'll receive it as soon as it's ready.
Action Plan Delivery and follow-up consultation. As soon as you receive your first month's Action Plan, we'll get together again to make sure you're clear about what you're doing.
